(Whole Wheat Flour Bread)

Serves – 4


Whole-wheat Flour – 1 cup

Wheat flour (for dusting) – 1 tbsp.

Ghee – 3 tbsp.

Salt - to taste

Ghee – for frying


1.)    In a paat, mix the whole-wheat flour and salt. Add 1 tblsp. ghee and water to make a semi – soft dough.

2.)    Divide the dough in to 4 portions.

3.)    Rollout each portion in the shape of a circular disc. From the balance ghee, add 1 tblsp. on both the rolled out portions. Spread the ghee evenly on the rolled out portions avoiding the edges. Sprinkle dry flour over this.

4.)    Roll out the dough from one edge to another, like a spring roll.

5.)    Flatten out the rolled dough and form a round shape.

6.)    Roll the dough again.

7.)    On a heated tawa, bake the Ufrato on a medium heat constantly adding ghee on the sides. Cook till it is golden brown in color. Serve hot.

To serve

Ufrato is served with pickle or Dharan ji Chutney.
