(Wheat Pudding)



Whole Wheat flour – 1 cup
Powdered Sugar – ¾ cup
Ghee – 2 tblsp.
Cardamom Powder – 2 gms.
Poppy seeds – 5 gms.


  1. In a pan, heat ghee over a medium flame. When the ghee has melts, add whole-wheat flour.
  2. Roast the flour till it turns chocolate brown in colour. Keep stirring constantly.
  3. Add powdered sugar and cardamom powder to the roasted whole-wheat flour. Mix thoroughly and keep stirring.
  4. Cook till the sugar caramelizes and is absorbed by the flour. The Churmo will be chocolate brown in colour.
  5. Garnish with poppy seeds.

To serve

Churmo can be eaten either hot or cold with any of the meals. If served for breakfast or as a savoury, it is accompanied with Dar, Pakhwan.
