Refined Flour – 1 cup
Sugar (ground) – ½ cup
Cardamom pods – 3 nos. (seeds only)
Sesame seeds – ¼ tsp.
Ghee – ¼ cup
Ghee – for frying


  1. Soak the sugar in some water. The water should be just about enough to immerse the sugar. Heat the mixture on a medium flame. Keep stirring continuously till the sugar melts and sugar syrup of 1 string consistency is formed. Keep aside.
  2. Sieve the refined flour, add the seeds of cardamom pods, sesame seeds and ¼ cup ghee. Mix well.
  3. Add the sugar syrup and knead to form a hard dough. When the dough is formed, sprinkle a couple of drops of water and keep the dough aside for ½ hour.
  4. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and give them a round shape.
  5. Heat the ghee for frying on a medium flame. When hot, lower the flame and deep-fry the Tikkis  till they are golden brown in colour.
  6. Remove the Tikkis on an absorbent paper. Allow them to cool and serve.

To serve

Khand Tikkis can be served with any savoury item. Khand Tikkis are also a traditional Thado item.
