(Red Rice Flour Curry)



Red rice flour – 4 tsp.
Potato (optional) – 1 no. (medium sized)
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp.
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp.
Green chillies – 3 – 4 nos.
Asafoetida – pinch
Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
Dried raw mango – 3 – 4 nos.
Oil – ½ tblsp.
Salt – to taste


  1. Make a thick batter of red rice flour and water. Keep aside.
  2. In a deep pan, heat the oil on a medium flame. When hot, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, chopped green chillies and asafoetida. Allow it to temper.
  3. When the mustard seeds and green chillies start popping, add the red rice flour batter, some more water to make a thin consistency, peeled and chopped pieces of potato, dried raw mango pieces, salt and turmeric powder. Allow this mixture to boil for 20 minutes.
  4. When the potato pieces have been cooked and the consistency of the mixture attains soup like thickness, Sacho Saag is ready to be served.

To serve

Sachho Saag is served hot with Ufri Khichadi for Lunch.
